Replacing An Existing Breaker


When replacing an existing circuit breaker, attempt to obtain the catalog number located on the front or side label of the device. Ask the customer to safely remove the panel cover for better visibility.

Follow these instructions to get the necessary information...

  1. What manufacturer produced the circuit breaker?
  2. Is it plug-in, bolt-on, or feed-through?
  3. How many poles (legs) are there?
  4. What is the amperage required for the application?
  5. What is the voltage?
  6. Is there any special AIC requirement (not required, but recommended)?
